NOVA SCOTIA- CANADA'S OCEAN PLAYGROUND

 Here is an example of a tour I created for a client. This 10-day tour will give you a great over-view of Nova Scotia and hit all the highlights. Please ask if you would like me to personalize it for you.


Itinerary for Nova Scotia Vacation


Day 1
-  Pick up your rental car at the Halifax Airport.

 Drive to Halifax where you will stay  for 1 night.  Check out the beautiful scenery along the way.  There are many museums here, all of which are rich with Nova Scotian history. 


Day 2- 
Drive the Lighthouse Route to your next destination, and stop on the way to  see Peggy’s Cove.  This is one of the most photographed areas in Nova Scotia, and is famous for its breathtaking scenery. Continue past beautiful St. Margaret’s Bay to the Western Shore,  where you will stay at your next destination. Enjoy this peaceful area, and it’s breath-taking surroundings.


Day 3
-   On route to your next destination, visit the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic in Lunenburg.  .  Take a leisurely 1 hour drive, to White Point Beach Resort.  This is one of the most beautiful places to stay in Nova Scotia.   While you are there explore the historic town of Liverpool.  Here you can tour the Queens County Museum and the Perkins House Museum.


Day 4
-  Take a 1 ½  hour drive to Annapolis Royal, and stay at the Queen Anne Inn.  There are many things to do and see here.  On the way to Annapolis Royal, stop and see the Kejimkujik National Park.   Here there are beautiful walking trails, lakes and rivers, and nature, nature, nature.  Take in some of Nova Scotia’s history at Fort Anne National Historic Site, and the Port-Royal National Historic Site, where you will learn about over four centuries of history of the site and the area.  Take a walk along the oldest street in Canada,  St. George Street, in Annapolis Royal. 


Day 5
A 2 hour drive to Wolfville, will be worth it, when you see your next accommodation.  Stay at the Silver Shoe B&B for a night.  In a small town just outside of Wolfville, Grand Pre , is where Nova Scotia’s oldest operating winery is located.   Also at the Grand Pre National Historic Site, you will find a stone church which stands as a memorial to the Acadians who were forced from their homes in the grand deportation of 1755.


Day 6
-  Drive approximately 3 ½ hours to Pictou, one of the largest communities on the Northumberland Shore. There are many beaches in the area to see.  These beaches have the warmest waters north of the Carolinas.  Visit the Hector National Exhibit Center.  This is where the ship, Hector, brought over the first Scots to these shores in 1773.  If you like Lobster, on the way to your next destination, stop at the Auld’s Cove Lobster Suppers in Antigonish. 


Day 7
-  Take the scenic route to
Baddeck, a four hour drive,  where you will stay for the next 2 nights.  Nature, birds, scenery, Cape Breton just about has it all!  Activities range from walking and hiking to guided sea kayaking or cycling tours and golf.  Take a day to drive through the Cabot Trail.  
See the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site.  Here you will find out about his life and his legacy as a genius. 

Cape Breton Highland National Park, is a must see.  You will tour through some of the most spectacular camping and hiking in Cape Breton. 

Day 8-  On your way to Liscomb Mills, first stop at Louisbourg, to see The Fortress of Louisbourg.  Live all the excitement of a day in 1744.  This is one of the largest national historic sites in Canada, and one of the largest historic reconstructions in North America.  You may wish to visit historical Sherbrooke Village.


Day 9
-  Drive three hours to your last destination, Halifax,  where you will stay for the next two nights. Halifax is the place to shop.  Visit some other very interesting museums in Halifax, like Pier 21 and the Halifax Citadel.  These are two of the most popular museums in Nova Scotia.


Day 10
- Drive back to the Halifax International Airport.  Drop off your rental car here.  I hope you enjoyed your stay in Nova Scotia!
